Jeff Shelton established Gallantry 21 Security Consultants, LLC in 2020 and brings over 30 years of law enforcement, military and private sector experience in investigations, security and protection related services.
Jeff joined the United States Secret Service in 1992 and began his career in the Washington Field Office where he established himself as a premiere criminal investigator and served with distinction in the Vice-Presidential Protective Division.
He served in the supervisory ranks from 2003-2015, as the Resident Agent in Charge of the McAllen Resident Office, the Assistant Special Agent in Charge in Oklahoma City and as an Attaché serving abroad at a diplomatic post with the State Department at the US Consulate in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Upon completion of his foreign assignment in 2012, Jeff went on to lead the men and women in the San Antonio and Dallas Field Offices, retiring in 2015 with more than 23 years as a special agent.
Highlights in Jeff’s career include his role and work identifying the state entity producing the high quality counterfeit SuperNote in 1998. As the assistant special agent in charge, Jeff oversaw the efforts in the creation of the Oklahoma Electronic Crimes Task Force in 2005. In 2011, Jeff coordinated the efforts for the Secret Service in the investigation and prosecution of Romanian hackers responsible for the largest privacy breach in Australia’s history with losses exceeding 40 million US dollars. Jeff also lead the investigation in Sydney which culminated in the identification and apprehension of an America’s most wanted fugitive and FBI Top 10 Most Wanted cybercriminals who eluded law enforcement for more than 4 years, who was later extradited and sentenced in federal court in 2013.
Over his career, Jeff received many awards for his work in investigative excellence, leadership and expertise in the area of protection and security, including recognition from the Secretary of the Treasury and Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Australia Federal Police, New Zealand Police, private corporations , academia and from numerous police departments both domestic and foreign. In 1996, Jeff was awarded a House Resolution from the Maryland House of Delegates for his role in solving and apprehending a murder suspect in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
Post retirement, Jeff has served as a director in the corporate world at MoneyGram International, as an independent contractor working for the US intelligence community and the US Postal Service, as well as contractor work for companies in the financial industry, oil and gas sector and religious and nonprofit organizations. He is a proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps from 1983 – 1987 in the infantry and elite Marine Security Guard program at US embassies in Africa and Asia. He is the founder and owner of Gallantry 21 Security Consultants, operating in the Dallas – Ft. Worth metroplex.
